How Do I Get There?
From Keflavík International Airport take the Reykjanesbraut (41), direction Reykjavík. This highway takes you all the way into the city to the junction of Vesturlandsvegur and Miklabraut, take the junction to Vesturlandsvegur towards Mofellsbær/Highway 1 towards Akureyri. Drive through Mosfellsbær following the coastline on Vesturlandsvegur Highway 1. The highway lies beside the mountain Esjan (a volcanic mountain range, made from basalt and tuff) in a section of Reykjavik 116 and Skrauthólar, the farm is well marked on the right hand side. Drive straight up to the mountain and we are the top farmhouse on the left marked Skrauthólar 4.
View Google MapsEsjan takes its name from the majestic mountain that rises above the farm. She is the queen of mountains in this region of Iceland, situated across the bay from the capital (Reykjavik) and offers the perfect setting for our center. Recycling and working with nature were your hosts' focus and central motivating factor and the Bus accommodation has grown out of that passion.
Upon entering the bus (and during your stay) your hosts offer a feeling of true adventure; you are going on an intimate journey of discovery. Whilst comfortably accommodated and fully self sufficient--with a little kitchenette, you are first and foremost in the arms of nature. Iceland is for the most part still wilderness and you will immediately feel on arrival. Your neighbors will be the horses and sheep on surrounding fields, as well as the residing four cats and a dog. A Bath House is located beside your Bus with showers and toilets. Within this southern region of the island you can make day trips to Þingvellir (one of the National Parks), the famed Geyser, the Blue Lagoon, as well as Lava Fields and Hot Springs to mention but a few.
