How Do I Get There?
Cardamom Tented Camp´s Departure Lodge is in the village of Trapeang Rung on Highway 48, the main highway linking Phnom Penh with Thailand, through the provincial capital of Koh Kong.
From the departure point in the local village here, you will embark onto a 40-minute boat ride along Trapeang Rung and Preak Tachan rivers. En route to Cardamom Tented Camp, you will experience the shift from lowland settlements, into the protected area of Botum Sakor National Park with its thriving flora and fauna. The journey itself is already an adventure and offers many wonderful photo opportunities.
Cardamom Tented Camp offers you shared minivan options with selected and quality tested suppliers, from main tourist departure destinations.
If you take a public bus coming from Phnom Penh, you must get off the bus before the bridge crossing the Trapeang Rung River and walk down a small track that descends to the river on the left side of the bridge. After about 100 meters turn right under the bridge (heading north parallel to the river) and walk down the track for about another 100 meters until you arrive at the Departure Lodge on the left, next to the river.
View Google MapsCardamom Tented Camp, together with Wildlife Alliance, offers eco-friendly packages to adventure enthusiasts keen to be a part of real conservation work. Caradmom Tented Camp offers different packages depending on the stay (minimum 2 nights), all prices include nature activities, meals and accommodation.
The eco-camp is home to nine comfortable safari-style tents located inside Botum Sakor National Park that minimize the human footprint on the natural world and serve as a role model in promoting sustainable tourism practices in the park and within Cambodia as a whole.
The desire to create the camp grew out of a concern that an 18,000-hectare (180 km2) concession would fall into the hands of loggers, poachers and sand dredging operations. The tract of land is home to pristine lowland and coastal habitats linking wildlife corridors to the Cardamom Mountains.
