Arrival - Guests are picked up from their hotel in Ulaanbaatar in the morning and transfered to the railway station. The train departs mid-morning for about a 6 hour trip southeast over the grassland, which gradually turns into more arid Gobi steppe is about 6 hours. It disembarks at the small village of Dalanjargalan, where you are met by driver and cover the last 40 km to Red Rock Camp by car. Guests will ride on a private jeep or minibus (depending on the number of travelers) to and from Ikh Nartiin Chuluu Nature Reserve.
The services of local herdsmen can be employed to provide riding horses or transport animals.
Departure day - After breakfast you will leave camp and take a ride towards the Choiriin Bogd Mountains, where there are some remote Buddha statues in the rock faces. Enjoy a picnic lunch here, and take the 4 hour drive towards Ulaanbaatar.
View Google MapsIkh Nart Rocks Ger Camp in East Gobi is a unique blend of beauty and comfort. Stray away among the rock formations for the day or sit back in the gazebo and enjoy the beautiful evening sunsets over the Gobi.
During your all-inclusive 4 Day/3 Night excursion, you will stop at a small village on your travel towards the camp, then for two days explore the Ikh Nart area on foot with an English-speaking guide. Take one of the mountain bikes from the camp and explore the area on your own, you will probably spot a few of the common wildlife species such as Argali Sheep, Siberian Ibex, Cinereous Vultures, Lesser Kestrels, and various small carnivores and their prey. On your last day enjoy a breakfast buffet and head towards the Choiriin Bogd Mountains. You will stop here to view the remote Buddha statues in the rock faces and have a picnic lunch. Then get back on the road for about 4 hours on your journey back to Ulaanbaatar.
