    Reservations canceled within 15 days of the scheduled arrival date are subject to a 100% penalty and are responsible for the entire stay and will forfeit all payments.

How Do I Get There?

Simbavati River Lodge is approximately a 7 hour drive from Johannesburg.

Do not type in Simbavati River Lodge into your GPS.
The GPS will pick the lodge name up but will try and direct you through Kruger National Park which is not the correct direction.

Please note you cannot access the Lodge through Kruger Park but only through the Timbavati Gate as per the directions below.

Follow the tar road from the Eastgate Airport/Timbavati turn-off for 44 km straight to the Simbavati turn-off. Turn right onto the dirt road and follow the lion footprints for approximately 6.4 km to the lodge. On the tar road you will go through 2 control gates. At the second gate you enter the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve where you will pay a Vehicle Entrance Fee per vehicle. Keep your permit, as the Lodge will issue you with an exit permit when you return again.

Very important:
Please do not arrive at the lodge late, as you will then miss the afternoon/evening game drive and lunch, which they do not serve later than 16h00.

This intimate, family-friendly lodge boasts contemporary luxury accommodation all privately situated and comfortably furnished. Awaken to sights and sounds of the surrounding bush and wildlife, while staying in one of the 8 luxury safari tents or 3 spacious family suites, elegantly decorated with sophisticated finishes. All the tents and suites provide en suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, eco-friendly amenities as well as a private deck for game-viewing and sipping drinks enjoying the bushveld sunsets.

The lodge offers Big 5 safari game drives in the early morning and evening for exceptional game viewing when the animals are most active. Nocturnal animals, including the big cats are regular sightings at night. Simbavati also offers specialized photographic game drives.

Inside Scoop

  • Breakfast and lunch are served daily outside on the wooden deck, set out under age-old Jackal berry and Leadwood trees, combining African and Western cuisine offering exciting new tastes for the more adventurous as well as for the more conventional preferences. A traditional dinner is served around the campfire in an open-air "Boma", an experience not to be missed.
